Re: [piclist] Re: address decode on serial

You can't get a PC to generate it. PC UARTS aren't capable of it. You
need to get a RS485 module between the network and the PC to handle that
part of the protocol. With enough effort you might get the PC to do some
kind of parity bit fiddling to get it to work, but an interface dongle is
a bit simpler to manage I think.

Thanks, seems my idle day in front the pc has not been in vain!

The only thing that bothered me was it making my email visible to the
world, as it was my @googlemail.com address, I usually use a separate
email for everything and have it redirected, if one starts to get
spam, I can stop redirecting it and start another, but now my secret
identity is known, and I will forever receive asking if I need to
increase the size of my RAM........

Re: [piclist] What is the cheapest way to put a bootloader inside a PIC16F877A

There are several free and open source bootloaders out there.
Just Google for "pic bootloader"

Thanks for any replys.

RE: [piclist] USB and 18f2550

Try Oshonsoft Pic18_Sim_Ide at www.oshonsoft.com. The simulator,
basic compiler is 29 euro. There is an addon for USB. Under projects
you will find a bootloader for the 18F series. The bootloader uses
the serial port which may be better than using the USB for
bootloading. You can play with Pic18_Sim_Ide with out paying for the
product to get a feeling for it. 29Euro is a great deal.

Re: [piclist] USB and 18f2550

Well to put the bootloaderin you could use a galvawisp,
http://www.picbasic.nl/galvawisp2_uk.htm. I got one and like it a lot,
cheap and reliable.

For the c part is google your friend:

good luck
